TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING and Hiroshima University Hold 2024 Joint Research Results Presentation

TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING Co., Ltd. held a presentation session at its Safety Training Centre to showcase the outcomes of its 2024 joint research projects with Hiroshima University on 28 April.
This longstanding collaboration, launched in 2004, aims to reduce environmental impact through technological innovation and to enhance the added value provided to customers. Research themes are structured around the company’s operational challenges, combining both theoretical and practical approaches to strengthen technological capabilities and real-world implementation. To date, 176 projects have been undertaken, with more than 75% of outcomes applied within the business.
Mr NISHIJIMA Takanori, General Manager of Design Division, Managing Executive Officer at TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING, delivered the opening address:
“Thanks to the continued cooperation of Hiroshima University, this joint research initiative has now entered its 21st year. It remains a cornerstone of our technological foundation. Through this programme, we have found solutions to various business challenges and achieved tangible outcomes. I look forward to seeing how ideas evolve to address complex issues and are eventually translated into practical solutions.”
Professor YASUKAWA Hironori of the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering at Hiroshima University also spoke:
“I am truly grateful that we have been able to continue this joint research endeavour for over two decades. I encourage everyone to reflect on how each research outcome might be utilized in their respective departments to improve operational efficiency and contribute to the future growth of TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING. Going forward, I hope to further advance research groups capable of making meaningful contributions to the company.”
During the session, results were presented under 12 themes, covering areas such as Performance, Structure, Outfitting, and Digital Transformation (DX). Each presentation lasted 15 minutes and was followed by lively discussion and exchange of ideas. For the 2025 fiscal year, over 10 themes, including continuing projects, and planned, with the next presentation session scheduled for the same period next year.
