Mitsui E&S Shipbuilding Exhibited at SMART ENERGY WEEK ‘WIND EXPO’ -Towards Carbon Neutrality in the Maritime Industry-

Mitsui E&S Shipbuilding as TSUNEISHI Group participated in the WIND EXPO Wind Power Generation Exhibition, which took place during SMART ENERGY WEEK at Tokyo Big Sight from 19-21 February. This exhibition, a comprehensive showcase of next-generation energy technologies, provided a platform for discussion on the company’s contributions to carbon neutrality in the maritime industry.

■ Overview of the exhibition
We introduced the SWATH (SSC) type of Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV) for offshore wind farms, which contributes to ‘improved availability of offshore wind farm’. This CTV for SSC type has a smaller waterline area and is less affected by waves than conventional catamaran vessels. The exhibition showcased the vessel’s operational performance in waves, its contribution to increased accessibility and stable power supply. It also featured products such as the integrated ship handling system were also introduced.

■ On the day of the exhibition
The exhibition was met with great interest, attracting numerous visitors from the maritime industry and the wind power generation industries. The stability of the vessel in high wave heights was explained while showing a video of a tank test, and the visitors asked many questions, including about future construction plans, the vessel’s specifications, and the difference in stability when transferring from a work vessel to a wind farm. Many visitors also viewed Mitsui E&S Shipbuilding’s own products, such as integrated vessel handling equipment.

■ Prospects for the future
In the future, the CTV for SSC type will contribute to the spread of offshore wind power by improving the accessibility and availability of offshore wind turbine construction, operation and maintenance, stable power supply, and improving worker safety and working environment.
