Mitsui E&S Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES-S; President: Kenichi Shibata; Headquarters: Daiba, Minato-ku, Tokyo) provided Fuel Gas Supply System (FGSS) for “Sunflower Kamuy”, the first LNG-fuelled 15,600GT ferry on the Oarai – Tomakomai route, built by Naikai Zosen Corporation (NAIKAI; President: Hiroshi Terao; Headquarters: Onomichi City, Hiroshima), and the vessel was delivered.

For the supply of the FGSS, our company contracted to supply FGSS, including the fuel tank and gas part engineering of the vessel.
MES-S studied optimal configuration of equipment and fuel tank capacity together with NAIKAI from the initial engineering phase of this vessel. And MES-S provides a consistent service including procuring the equipment from the manufacturer, commissioning, and after sales service.

In response to the global drive towards decarbonisation and the application of environmental regulations and new rules, vessels are undergoing a transition from conventional fuel to alternative fuel.
With our technical expertise and experience in the design and construction of various types of gas carriers throughout our history, MES-S will support the clients who consider introducing dual-fuel vessels with flexible services to meet their various requirements.
