TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING lectured to Hiroshima University students -Learning about Project Management through Shipbuilding-

TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING conducted lectures on project management for 54 students from Hiroshima University’s Faculty of Engineering. These lectures, which has been held since 2015, took place on 15 and 22 January 2025. The lectures form part of the “Project Management” class in the Cluster 1 (Mechanical System, Transportation, Material and Energy) school of Engineering, Hiroshima University.

On the first day of the lecture, a site visit and company introduction were held at the Head Office of TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING. The event included an introduction to the fundamentals of shipbuilding and the origins of the company. A question-and-answer session and business introduction were conducted by three employees, who graduated from Hiroshima University and offered their genuine opinions. The students in attendance had the opportunity to ask a variety of questions, including enquiries regarding the most challenging aspects of the company’s employment, insights into to the job hunting process, the company’s training and personnel development systems, and recommendations for students to consider during their university years. The event was characterised by a cordial and convivial atmosphere throughout.

On the second day of the lecture, SHIBATA Kenichi, Managing Executive Officer of TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING and President of Mitsui E&S Shipbuilding, delivered a lecture on ‘Overview of Project Management’ at the Hiroshima University campus. The lecture explained the importance of project management in the shipbuilding industry, from strategy formulation to commercialization. As a case in point, he highlighted development of propellers and the cruise ship “guntû” both of which constructed by TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING. The lecture offered students a systematic overview of project management, encompassing critical path analysis milestone identification and risk analysis.

Some of our current employees first became interested in the shipbuilding industry by taking this course as students, and are now working with TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING. We are committed to strengthening our collaboration with educational institutions. We are dedicated to promoting understanding of the shipbuilding industry and developing human resources by highlighting the sector’s appeal and providing educational opportunities.
