MARINA awards Tsuneishi the Timonel Award for Outstanding Maritime Entity

The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) awarded Tsuneishi Heavy Industries (Cebu), Inc. (THICI) the Timonel Award for Outstanding Maritime Entity during its 40th Founding Anniversary on June 2, 2014 at The Palacio de Maynila, Malate, Manila.

THICI has been nominated and selected as the MARINA Timonel awardee as outstanding “maritime entity” in recognition of its exemplary achievements and remarkable contribution in the maritime industry for the last 10 years, which has provided a major impact of national, regional, or international significance.

In behalf of THICI President Mr. Hitoshi Kono, THICI Engr. Charlie Ombao together with THICI-Business Group senior staff Ms. Lady Fer Villaceran received the award from the MARINA Administrator Dr. Maximo Q. Mejia Jr., Department of Transportation & Communications (DOTC) Undersecretary Julianito Bucayan Jr., and DOTC Undersecretary Edwin R. Lopez.

THICI, being one of the major contributors in the growth of the Philippine shipbuilding industry, already delivered 182 ships since its inception in 1994 with its first ship m/v Sea Amelita, named after the former first lady Amelita Ramos. Philippines now ranks as the 4th largest shipbuilding hub in the world. With a total land area of 149.7 hectare to include its Phase 4 extension, THICI is celebrating its 20th year in the Philippines, and currently employs 13,000 people including subcontractor workers and affiliate companies.
