TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING accepts Technical Intern Trainees from the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste

TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING Co., Ltd. (Fukuyama, Hiroshima, Japan; Representative Director: Sachio Okumura) welcomed Mr. Rogerio Araujo Mendonca, Secretary of State for Vocational Training and Employment (SEFOPE) of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, at the Tsuneishi Factory on 23 January during his visit to Japan. During his visit, a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) regarding the acceptance of technical intern trainees was signed between the TSUNEZO COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION (TCA) (*1), which jointly accepts project for Technical Intern Trainees and Specified Skills Workers, and Timor-Leste. With the signing of the MOC, TUSNEISHI SHIPBUILDING and TCA will support the development of human resources in Timor-Leste, which is currently achieving economic development, to contribute to the development of new industries, with a particular focus on the rise of the shipbuilding industry and the development of shipbuilding technicians in Timor-Leste. Therefore, at the request of the Government of Timor-Leste, TCA signed of this agreement was made with the aim of cooperating in the further promotion of the global shipbuilding industry. TCA has accepted many technical intern trainees from Republic of the Philippines and Republic of Indonesia, and can provide a safe environment for technical trainees, including education and support in terms of living conditions.
Secretary Mendonca gave a speech ‘I would like to thank you for your support and cooperation in our efforts to find new possibilities for the future of the young people of Timor-Leste. I strongly hope that this will serve as a bridge to build a future for Japan and Timor-Leste” to close out the signing ceremony. In the future, the secretariat will discuss the number of accepted employees, factories, and workplaces, and put in place a system to accept them.

*1 TSUNEZO COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION
Established in April 1986. It is a cooperative which jointly accepts project for Technical Intern Trainees and Specified Skills Workers, and an association comprising TUSNEISHI SHIPBUILDING and its 65 partner companies. Up to the present time, it has accepted more than 2,000 trainees from the Philippines, People’s Republic of China and Indonesia and it handles a wide variety of traineeships in a wide range of occupations, including welding and plumbing skills.
