Installation of “Fleet Transfer” vessel monitoring system developed by Mitsui E&S Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES-S; President: Kenichi Shibata; Head Office: Daiba, Minato-ku, Tokyo), on Arctic Research Vessel “MIRAI II” (VESSEL) which is ordered by Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC; President; Hiroyuki Yamato; Head Office: Yokosuka-shi, Kanagawa) and is under building by Japan Marine United Corporation (JMU; President & CEO: Takashi Hirose; Head Office: Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa) has been decided. The VESSEL is the Japan’s first research vessel with icebreaking capability, and which is scheduled to be completed in November 2026.

Fleet Transfer automatically collects various data from on-board equipment every second and frequency of data collection can be customized upon customer’s request. The collected data is transmitted to portal site via satellite communications and it allows real-time onshore monitoring of the vessel’s navigation from land.

Collected data is shown on ’seawise’ developed by seawise Co.,Ltd. (Executive Director: Kazuaki Tsutsui; Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), the major shareholders of which are Japan Data Science Consortium Co. Ltd., and MITSUI & CO., LTD. as an original portal site, however, it can be also shown on other various platforms meeting each customer’s request. (*In the case of the vessel, it will be connected to the operator’s platform.)

Fleet Transfer has been installed on approximately 500 vessels, since its launch in 2006 and obtained top market share in the monitoring system in Japan. MES-S proposes system configuration to suit each customer’s request and carries out one-stop support from initial system design to implementation with our technical expertise and accomplishments.
