Third Batch of Technical Intern Trainees from Timor-Leste Commence Training at TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING
On 18 September 2026, in line with its overseas expansion, TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING welcomed ten technical intern trainees from the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. The trainees will be accepted by companies affiliated with TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING, with the TSUNEZO COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION* serving as the supervising organisation. This initiative follows the agreement signed in January 2024 at the request of the Government of Timor-Leste, aimed at cooperating in the further promotion of the global shipbuilding industry. This is the third group of trainees.
The ten trainees were selected from 45 applicants from three training schools at a screening held in Timor-Leste in January 2026. They will be assigned to six companies affiliated with TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING as trainees in welding (semiautomatic welding), painting (metal painting), finishing (ironwork) and pipe welding (plant piping).
From 19 September, the trainees took Japanese language training at a language school. After moving to TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING on 19 October, they will receive safety training from the Safety Assurance Dept. of TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING, take part in various orientation sessions and attend the required special training courses. After that, they will be formally assigned to their host companies. The TSUNEZO COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION will also support the trainees in their daily lives, ensuring a safe and secure environment in which they can focus on their training.
Through their technical training in Japan, the trainees are expected to gain specialised skills and knowledge and, in the future, to contribute to the industrial development of Timor-Leste.
In addition to trainees from Timor-Leste, the TSUNEZO COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION also accepts Technical Intern Trainees and Specified Skilled Workers from the Philippines and Indonesia. The association will continue to support the development of diverse human resources and to build an environment where people can gain specialised skills and knowledge.
