TSUNEISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES (CEBU) Holds Its 16th Tree-Planting Activity – 2,000 Seedlings Planted, Nurturing a Future Together with the Local Community –
21 August 2026 – TSUNEISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES (CEBU), INC. (THI), the Philippine shipbuilding base of TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING Co., Ltd., together with other TSUNEISHI GROUP companies, carried out a tree-planting activity in Vito, Balamban, Cebu. Held with the aim of contributing to the local community and to environmental conservation, the activity has been carried out every year since 2012, making this year’s the 16th.
On the day, a total of 240 employee volunteers from TSUNEISHI GROUP companies in the Philippines, including THI, together with Japanese staff on assignment there, participated in the event. As in the previous year, the seedlings planted were “tugas” (English name: molave), a tree species native to the Philippines. This species was chosen once again for its resilience during the dry season, as well as for its deep root system, which helps prevent soil erosion.
Ahead of the tree-planting, Mr SETO Yasuaki, Chairman of TSUNEISHI FOUNDATION (CEBU), INC. (TFCI), gave an address. Thanking the volunteers for taking part, he said, “These seedlings we planted today are a gift to our children and future generations, helping to protect clean air and mitigate the effects of climate change.” He went on to conclude, “I am happy that you came and joined this annual tree-planting activity. Let us all continue to nurture the environment by taking good care of our natural resources and planting more trees.”
Participants then received instructions on the tree-planting procedure and carefully planted 2,000 seedlings, one by one.
Along with THI, TSUNEISHI GROUP will remain committed to being one with the community, contributing to the protection and regeneration of the natural environment.
