TSUNEISHI Holds the 23rd TSUNEISHI Tech Olympics to Improve Shipbuilding Skills

TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING Co., Ltd. (Fukuyama, Hiroshima, Japan) held the 23rd TSUNEISHI Tech Olympics, a competition of welding, painting and other skills essential for shipbuilding, with the aim of realising high construction quality and improving shipbuilding skills on Saturday October 19.

At the opening of this year’s for 23rd TSUNEISHI Tech Olympics, Mr. DATE Masatoshi, TSUNEISHI Factory Manager, Managing Executive Officer of TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING, said: Today, please demonstrate the skills you have honed over the years and do your best to achieve the gold medal. Please follow the instructions of the staff and take care of your own safety. About 100 competing players took part in the competition, which was held under the theme of ‘Breakthrough’, and fully demonstrated the skills they have developed in their daily work.

The total of seven competitions were held on the day, covering the ‘Flat Welding Competition’, the ‘Gas Cutting Competition’, the ‘Vertical Upward Welding Competition’, the ‘Overhead Crane Competition’, the ‘Ladder & Brush Painting Competition’, the ‘Electric Forklift Competition’ and the ‘Electrical Wiring Competition’.

The first TSUNEISHI Tech Olympics was held at the TSUNEISHI factory in 2001. At that time, the event started with only Welding Competitions and was held every year, gradually increasing the number of events over time. The Olympics have also been held at our group company in China since 2011 and at the Philippine one in 2012, with the aim of refining skills across the entire manufacturing base, improving quality and passing on skills.
