This vessel is a “KAMSARMAX bulker” developed by Tsuneishi Shipbuilding in 2004. The first of these ships was completed in 2005 at the head shipyard of Tsuneishi Shipbuilding, and this is the 181st ship built by the group.

Tsuneishi Shipbuilding was one of the first in the industry to increase the deadweight of PANAMAX bulkers, the largest type of bulker that is able to navigate the Panama Canal, from the previous 70,000 tons to over 80,000 tons (as much as 82,000 tons). This type of vessel boosts transport efficiency. The name “KAMSARMAX bulker” comes the fact that it meets the 229-meter ship length restriction for entry to the Port of Kamsar, a major bauxite shipping port in the Republic of Guinea.
