Tsuneishi Corporation has established a seamless organization that meets growing demand for shipbuilding by adding a foothold in China to plants in Tsuneishi, Tadotsu and Cebu

Tsuneishi Corporation (head office: 1083 Tsuneishi, Numakuma-cho, Numakuma, Hiroshima, President: Katsushige Kambara) announces that its subsidiary, Tsuneishi Group (Zhoushan) Marine & Development Inc. on Shuzan Island, one of the Zhoushan Islands in China, has built and shipped its first accommodation blocks to Japan.
The accommodation blocks are to be loaded on a 52,000t-type bulk carrier under construction at Tsuneishi Factory this weekend on September 20.

Tsuneishi Corporation established Tsuneishi Group (Zhoushan) Marine & Development Inc. on Shuzan Island, China, this spring as part of its global strategy to fortify its international competitiveness. This latest facility has been building accommodation blocks while constructing and expanding the plant. The subsidiary has completed its first accommodation blocks and has now made its first shipment ever to Japan. The blocks have full outfitting, interior decoration and furnishings.
The subsidiary’s launch followed the setting up of shipbuilding and repair docks in Tsuneishi and Tadotsu, Japan; a shipbuilding dock in Cebu, Philippines; and a vessel component manufacturing factory in China. We have achieved a strong and secure production structure that is able to respond to growing worldwide demand for vessels, after creating an international shipbuilding network spanning these three countries.

The subsidiary will continue to construct accommodation blocks for another vessel to meet its 2003 target to supply two vessels. It plans to further enhance its facilities by installing NC steel cutters and other advanced equipment, and to boost output from 2004 forward in view of supplies to shipbuilders in Asia, including Japan.

Tsuneishi Corporation established a shipbuilding subsidiary, Tsuneishi Heavy Industries, Inc. in Cebu, Philippines, in 1994. We are the only company in the Japanese shipbuilding industry whose positive globalization strategy has delivered success. We will continue to reinforce our global business structure and boost our international competitiveness.
