Tsuneishi opens a new website and discloses details of its bulk carriersDay (July 20)

April 25, 2003

Tsuneishi Corporation (Head office: 1083 Tsuneishi, Numakuma-cho, Hiroshima, President: Katsushige Kambara) opens on April 28, 2003, “TESS-World” (URL: http://www.tess-world.net), an official brand website dedicated to the “Tsuneishi Economical Standard Ship” (hereinafter TESS), our standard bulk carrier series which is used worldwide.

Although Internet websites have been conventionally published to promote consumer items such as automobiles and beverages, this will be the first case in the shipbuilding industry of a site entirely dedicated to a single vessel type.

TESS-World gathers and exhibits, via the Internet, every type of information related to the TESS series. In particular, owing to the latest software technology being effectively used here, visitors can find out more about the TESS series, enjoying features such as highly realistic 3D computer graphics that show internal spaces, including the rudder housing, the captain’s cabin, and the dining room.

Our aim, in developing this specialized website, is to boost TESS brand recognition. In addition, we intend to maintain existing relations of trust between previous owners and ourselves as well as cultivate new demand through enhanced Internet-based communication with both existing and potential customers.

TESS is our standard bulk carrier series. The first 40,000-dwt model was completed in 1984. TESS is the shipbuilding industry’s best-selling series, with more than 100 delivered in 1999, making a total of 158 ships constructed so far.
In 1994, we introduced the TESS45, a 45,000-dwt model with increased capacity but unchanged fuel consumption and service speed compared with the previous model. The series was then expanded to the “TESS52,” a 52,000-dwt carrier, followed by the “TESS76,” an upgraded Panamax bulk carrier featuring the world’s largest class deadweight and low fuel consumption, and, most recently, the “TESS82,” developed in 2002.
