TSUNEISHI GROUP (ZHOUSHAN) SHIPBUILDING Inc.

Located in Shanghai’s neighboring and economically fast growing Zhoushan Islands in Zhejiang Province. Equipped with 2 shipbuilding berths and 1 building dock, container carriers, product tankers, and tug boats are being built, while the central focus is on 30,000- to 100,000-ton-class bulk carriers. Aiming at being an “exemplary factory” in the Chinese shipbuilding industry, we concentrate our efforts on the cultivation of human resources to realize improvements in areas such as the environment, safety, quality, and process management. In addition to the establishment of a well-prepared in-house training system, an attempt is made to cultivate the next generation, who are responsible for the future shipbuilding industry, in cooperation with educational institutions in the shipbuilding field.

One of the Zhoushan island group centered upon Zhoushan Island where “Mount Putuo,” an important place in Buddhism, is situated and where a beach resort, also famous in China, extends to the north of the island. After the establishment of TSUNEISHI GROUP (ZHOUSHAN) SHIPBUILDING Inc. in 2003, the population increased and more shops and accommodation were built. This led to the economic development of the island. In front of the main gate of TSUNEISHI GROUP (ZHOUSHAN) SHIPBUILDING, a shopping street has appeared, inviting interaction between employees and islanders.

Situated on a small hill a 10-minute drive from TSUNEISHI GROUP (ZHOUSHAN) SHIPBUILDING Inc. with a shuttle bus service available in the morning and evening. Fully equipped with comfortable beds and baths, Chinese dishes using local fresh small fish and vegetables are served, in addition to Japanese cuisine made mainly from Japanese rice. In the garden, you can enjoy a barbecue and a night view of the factory.

Company house for employees

To cope with the increase in the number of Chinese employees, new company houses were built in 2013. On the 33,000-square-meter site, a 5-minute drive from the factory, a total of 510 rooms for families and single people are occupied by employees of TSUNEISHI GROUP (ZHOUSHAN) SHIPBUILDING and the partner companies who applied to live in the company houses.

Support to enrich the lives of the local population

TSUNEISHI GROUP (ZHOUSHAN) SHIPBUILDING Inc. aims at being a “factory developing together with the region.” We continue to cooperate with educational institutions in the shipbuilding field and to conduct activities supporting local medicine, education, and upbringing.

Educational support

Supporting the cultivation of the next generation who are responsible for the future of the Chinese shipbuilding industry.
We jointly opened Tsuneishi Campus on Xiushan Island in 2007 with Daishan County Vocational Technical School. Covering all the school and dormitory expenses, we have established a scholarship system and, in addition, are providing a workshop within the TSUNEISHI GROUP (ZHOUSHAN) SHIPBUILDING factory. In 2013, the “Tsuneishi Class” was started at the Zhejiang International Maritime College and, moreover, a scholarship system was introduced, supporting the promotion of the maritime field and cultivation of next-generation engineers.

Medical support

Support is offered to community medicine, which helps give local people healthy lives.
At hospitals on Xiushan Island, we are assisting with the provision of the latest medical equipment. The environment is being improved so that patients will be able to receive appropriate medical treatment.
Since 2014, all employees of TSUNEISHI GROUP (ZHOUSHAN) SHIPBUILDING Inc. have started to receive periodic medical check-ups, and encouraged the local islanders to have a physical examination.

Childcare support

We offer our assistance to the child-rearing generation. We support the improvement of childcare facilities in whose care a child can be left with peace of mind.
As a solution to the shortage of childcare facilities due to the increase in the number of employees, we are backing the building and playground expansion of local nursery schools.
For primary schools as well, in 2014, our support involved expanding a school building (to a reinforced-concrete 4-story structure) to solve the problem of a shortage of classes due to an increase in the number of schoolchildren.
